Of Lansing

Born Oct. 20, 1957 in Cass City, MI the son of Donald & Marcella (Gatz) Vatter, passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2004 in Lansing at age 46. Bob spent his childhood years in Cass City and after graduating there he came to Lansing to attend MSU. He graduated from MSU with a BA in Public Administration. He recently received a BA in Religious Studies from Sienna Heights University. He was currently studying as a Deacon Candidate with the Diocese of Lansing. Bob loved his parish family at St. Casimir Catholic Church where he was very involved. He most recently was the coordinator of "The Twins" Habitat for Humanity project in Lansing. Bob also served on many parish committee`s and commissions and was a member of the St. Casimir Knights of Columbus Council. He met his wife Jill A. Field in 6th grade and they were married Aug. 16, 1980. Surviving are his wife Jill of 23 years, his parents Donald & Marcella Vatter of Ubly, 2 sons James and John of Lansing, 2 brothers Joe (Ann) & Michael (Jolene), a niece Rhea, 2 nephews Zach & Reese and his best friend Scott (Mary) Mellendorf. He is preceded in death by his sister Deborah Vatter. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00am at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 815 Sparrow Ave., Lansing with Rev. Fr. Bill Lugger as celebrant. Rite of committal will follow in Elkland Twp. Cemetery, Cass City, MI at 4:30pm. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8pm at St. Casimir Catholic Church where the Vigil will be prayed at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue Thursday at the church beginning at 10:00am. Memorials may be made to the Family or to St. Casimir "Stone Upon Stone Building Campaign" in memory of Bob.
