New Tax Requirements

By law, beginning in 2007, parishioners who itemize deductions for income tax purposes must have bank records or receipts from the parish in order to ded= uct contributions on their tax return. To provide the required receipt, parishioners are encouraged to use contribution envelopes or the automatic withdrawal (EFT – electronic funds transfer) program. We c= an, to a limited extent, track contributions made by personal check without the us= e of an envelope. Parishioners pla= cing cash in the weekly offering basket will no longer be able to legally deduct= the contribution for tax purposes. Parish Offerings: Envelopes

Our parish offering envelope system is handled by Our Sunday Visitor. This is a bi-monthly service; parishioners receive envelopes every t= wo months. Because of an early c= ompany deadline for adding names (roughly the 22^nd of every odd-numbered month), the period between adding your name to the mailing list and automatically receiving your first regular envelope mailing will be more th= an a month. However, to promptly b= egin tracking your contributions for tax purposes, we will supply you with ̶= 0;starter set(s)” until your regular mailings begin. If you regularly spend the winter elsewhere, please let us know as early as possible your approximate dates of departure and return. Depending on the date you notify u= s and the length of your absence, we may be able to have envelopes sent to your winter address should you like us to.= We would certainly like to!

Automatic Withdrawal Program

Also known as electr= onic funds transfer (EFT), this voluntary program is like those offered by many utilities and businesses. You provide us with a voided check and complete a form on which you specify the amount you want withdrawn from your account on either the 1^st, 5= ^th, or 15^th of each month. Unless you indicate otherwise, we continue to send you envelopes for= use on holy days and for special collections.&= nbsp; Click AWP for more details and access to the AWP application form.
