Team
Description:
Assist at the funeral Mass by serving as a Eucharistic minister, lector or

As required, with frequency dependent on the number of teams formed. You would be notified through a
“calling tree” or email.
Training:
Provided, though there is a presumption that a Eucharistic minister or lect=

would already be performing these duties for the parish.

Mercy
Meal Volunteer
Description:
Provide a light meal by donating a casserole, salad, dessert and/or by
assisting to serve the meal in the parish after the funeral/interment.

Spiritual Care to Nursing Homes

Faith Formation
Note: Catechists (and their
helpers/assistants/substitutes) who regularly interact with children are

Description: Catechists are adults who help fos=
ter
relationship with and knowledge of Jesus Christ in the minds and hearts of
children. Catechists teach ch=
ildren
the traditions and doctrines of the Catholic faith. They are called to be living witne=
sses
to the faith through regular participation in the sacramental and liturgical
life of the church. Catechists must be confirmed Catholics in good standing=
with
the Church.

RCIA Team
Description: The Rit=
e of
Christian Initiation of Adults is the process through which adults become
members of the Catholic Church.
There are a variety of opportunities to share this journey with those
seeking to learn more about the Catholic faith.
Team members: Team members meet regularly with t= hose involved in the RCIA process to share faith, pray the scriptures, and participate with the coordinator in teaching the Catholic faith. Team members must be confirmed adu= lts from the parish community who strive to live the gospel in their daily live= s.
Commitment:&n= bsp; Approximately nine months (Sept – May). Team members are scheduled on a ro= tating basis so that at least three members attend each weekly session. Members would be scheduled about t= wice a month unless he or she requests otherwise.

Sponsors: The
role of the sponsor is one of spiritual friend, of support and care. Sponsors provide the one on one su=
pport
the catechumen or candidate needs during this period of exploration and gro=
wth.
Commitment: Approximately nine months (Sept &#=

sessions and participate in the liturgical rites.
Prayer

Christian Initiation=
of
Children is the process whereby children who are seven years and older, who
have not been baptized or who have been baptized but not prepared for
Eucharist, are prepared for the Sacraments of Initiation.
Description: Catechists instruct a small group =
of
children on a weekly basis in the basic teaching of the Catholic faith with=
the
goal of preparing them to receive the sacraments.

Outreach
Salvation Army Soup Kitchen
Description: Be a member (regular or substitute=

any one of several teams manned by our parishioners in support of our
city’s Salvation Army center.
Must be at least 18 years of age.&n=

The parish serves only as a conduit to provide volunteers; the
management and coordination is all handled by Salvation Army.
Commitment: As set by
Salvation Army, but generally speaking, 2 ½ to 3 hours, once per
quarter.

SHARE
Description: As a
caseworker, interview applicants for assistance, who are referred to us to
determine need and availability of funds.

is located in the basement of the Immaculate Conception rectory. It is open Tuesdays (9am – 1=
2noon)
and Friday (10am – 1pm). Caseworkers
schedule themselves to be in the office two to three times per month, four
hours each time.
